Graduate Programs

The College of Pharmacy is one of the first colleges established at King Saud University, with studies commencing in 1379 AH (1959 AD), just two years after the university's founding. In its first year, the college designed a four-year curriculum to award a Bachelor's degree through four departments: Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. At the beginning of the first semester of 1399/1400 AH, a new five-year curriculum was implemented, and the fifth department, Clinical Pharmacy, was established.

The college has consistently developed its curriculum to keep pace with advancements in the profession, convinced that pharmacy practice extends beyond drug preparation and formulation to include direct, effective contribution to patient care. Since the academic year 1395/1396 AH, the college adopted a new curriculum characterized by the introduction of modern courses preparing graduates to practice the evolving profession, including Clinical Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Biochemistry, and Pathology.

In the academic year 1402 AH (1982 AD), a study plan for awarding Master's degrees in various specializations within the college's departments was established. Subsequently, numerous Master's degrees have been awarded to male and female students. The departments have continually developed their Master's programs to align with new developments in various specializations, and PhD programs have been introduced in several departments.
