It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at King Saud University. Established in 1959 (1379 AH), the department is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The department participates in teaching undergraduate students across various health specializations at King Saud University. The department also teaches postgraduate courses in numerous programs and specializations at both the college and university levels. The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and the College of Pharmacy serve as a cornerstone for medical research in the Kingdom. The department's research and development primarily rely on the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to make the Kingdom a leader in pharmaceutical research and manufacturing. The department has over sixty highly qualified faculty members who lead numerous groundbreaking research projects in various medical fields, including cancer research, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, infectious and chronic diseases, and neurological disorders. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art research laboratories and equipment for conducting pre-clinical and clinical trials. The department produces numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers annually in prestigious national and international journals, and holds several patents registered in the names of its faculty. The department is also a source of scientific and administrative expertise, as evidenced by the presence of numerous department members as consultants in scientific institutions and pharmaceutical companies nationwide. In addition to teaching courses in the PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) program, the Pharmacy Diploma program, and other health colleges, the department offers master's programs (Master of Pharmacology and Master of Toxicology) as well as a doctoral program in Pharmacology and Toxicology—the only program of its kind in Saudi Arabia. The department has also contributed to establishing joint programs at the college level, such as the Executive Master's program in Pharmaceutical Legislation and the professional Master's program in Forensic Toxicology. We ask Allah Almighty to bless our work and guide our steps in achieving the vision, goals, and aspirations of our leaders to elevate our beloved Kingdom and make it a global leader in health and education.
