Pharmacoeconomic Research Unit

Overview:

The Pharmacoeconomic Research Unit in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at King Saud University is a unit made up of faculty members specialized in health policy, health outcomes, and economics of medicine and health. The unit’s mission is to strength the role of health and drug economics in improving the efficiency, effectiveness and fairness of the use of health resources in line with the strategic objectives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Economic Vision 2030. Its vision is to establish a new version of health outcomes research in the Middle East that helps health policy makers make science-based decisions to improve the quality of health care and public health. The unit's main objective is to make the unit an essential center for health and drug economics studies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Gulf region through research carried out by unit members and students who are supervised. The unit also contributes to spreading awareness of the importance of the role of health and drug economics among workers in the health services sector, drug companies and medical supplies by providing educational programs, workshops and training courses that serve those interested in this field
