About the chair:

There is a rapid development in the field of pharmaceutical sciences at world today, which includes all areas of research related to pharmaceutical chemistry. The chair's work is focused on raising the level of research to keep with this scientific development in the field of medicine, in order to be able to provide distinguished research in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry.

Objectives:

  1. Contribute for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to occupies a distinguished and qualified global scientific position in creativity, research and development.
  2. Enriching scientific research by establishing advanced technologies in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry.
  3. Enhancing the partnership between society, including pharmaceutical factories and other parties interested in drug research on the one hand, and King Saud University on the other hand.
  4. Develop and qualify local competencies in the pharmaceutical sector.
  5. Contribute to the upgrading of the local pharmaceutical industries.
  6. Establishing a culture of innovation and creativity and developing scientific research in the service of development and in support of its partnership with the public and private sectors.

 

Notable achievements of the chair:

  • Scientific papers published in scientific journals:

More than fifty papers were published (50) in 2018 and 2019 in international refereed scientific journals, specialized with a high impact factor in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry and its applications, which include the preparation of homogeneous and heterogeneous cyclic organic compounds, as well as peptide compounds, and they were biologically scanned as anti-cancer, anti-viral, as well as anti-bacterial. And an inhibitor of some enzymes and found to have a positive biological activity. Also, some transition metal compounds were prepared in order to conduct biological tests to find out the effect of metal ions in their Nanometers on the activity as antioxidant catalytic agents.

  • Patents:

A number of (15) patents were obtained at the American and European levels in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry and its applications between 2014 and 2020.
